Copic "Watercolor"

Hi! We just enjoyed a wonderful long weekend here in BC! A ONE LAYER, simple card for you today showcasing one of my favorite things....copics! You wouldn't think that flower is done with markers...well it is done with copic marker various ink refills and my waterpen filled with blender solution.

I love the pretty watercolor looking results of this technique....but first I need to describe how I got all that texture!

I did my stamping first, using "Birthday Chalkboard Greetings" and  "Delicious Birthday" from MFT! I stamped them in the Black Licorice Hybrid ink. Now....for the texture. I prepared the die cut sandwich for embossing on my machine. I then laid down my "Rose with Overlay" Die-namics, A piece from the "Blueprints 9" for the sentiment and then laid over all of this the "Grid" stencil. I ran it through my machine a couple of times to ensure deep impressions.

For the copic "watercolor" I used YR68, YR31 and R05 Various inks.

Are you signed up for a Copic Certification or Workshop? Some new locations were just added....Vancouver BC and Calgary are for my fellow Canadians :)

Check out the full list HERE on my updated Copic page. Hope to see you soon!

Lil' bits of ribbon

I decided to play along with today's clean and simple challenge over on SCS! It has been a LONG while since I have had the chance! We were challenged to use some of our ribbon bits and scraps to create a project.

I created this project for my sweet little niece....that needs a little hug as she broke her arm yesterday. Poor thing!

This whole tag is ribbon! I added adhesive on a piece of cardstock and then lined up the ribbons and then put it through my die cut machine with the "Pierced Tag STAX Die-namics". This made a nice clean edge to the ribbon....so nice!
The sweet little pure innocence image is "Sending Big Hugs" from MFT! I even added a little ribbon to her skirt :) I colored her up with my copic markers....these little gals are always fun to color!

Speaking of coloring....Check out my updated class page for Certifications and Workshops coming your way!

Copic Marker Classes with frosting on top....

Happy Monday! Lots of updates to share with you today!

First up is this little sweetie called "Sweet Birthday Wishes" from MFT....she is a new release for July!

I stamped her directly on kraft cardstock and then paper pieced everything except her hair and cupcake base. The papers are from Melissa Frances.

I colored her up with my copic markers...being sure to add shadows and dimension to her paper pieced dress.

The sentiment comes from a new set from MFT called "Delicious Birthday"....PERFECT for all things BIRTHDAY!

There are some new locations with released applications this week! Did you see we added Copic Certifications to Alexandria VA and new Workshops to Philadephia, Boston and Calgary!!!! You can check out my updated copic class page HERE....or head right to the source of copic class info HERE!

*******If you haven't checked out our class list in a while be sure to look at some of the fabulous locations we are offering....San Francisco people there are Certifications in San Jose this summer! I know you have been asking*******

UNDER the weather?

Fun little technique card to show you today....and a little step by step to walk you through my process. This is very much a ONE LAYER card.

Let's walk through it.....
I cut the "Layered Umbrellas" Die-namics from a post it note and placed it on my card base.
I then masked off the edges of that umbrella with more post it notes, going right to the bottom of my card.
I then inked up the "Typewriter Text" background with some Spearmint Hybrid ink and inked up my card front.
I then did a base of COPIC airbrushing with BG13 still leaving my mask in tact.
I then laid the "Raindrops" stencil over my cardfront and taped it down. Airbrushing with BG18. I moved the stencil to add some more raindrops and then airbrushed again.
Here is a look at the very "One layer" nature of this card.  For the umbrella itself....I painted with a little grapejelly and grapesicle refill and a bit of shimmer mist. I cut the remaining pieces from steel grey cardstock.

The sentiment is from the "Blue Skies Ahead" set (altered a little to fit my space).

Thanks for stopping by!

Things are changing for me...you may have seen announced on the MFT blog that I have decided to say a sweet farewell.

It is time for me to take a little step back from deadlines and create....just to create. I love MFT and the MFT family so this was a TOUGH decision, but I do feel a good peace about it.

I do want to say a SPECIAL THANK YOU to Kim van der Sanden. You have been so wonderful to me and it has been a complete delight to work with your fabulous goodies!

You will still see me here regularly on my blog, creating as always....just a little more on my timetable :)

So to say a sweet farewell to the design team I created todays' card using some AWESOME MFT goodies!

I started off with "Story Titles" at the top making my white (memories) panel. I then copic airbrushed BG72 with the "Petal Circles" stencil.

I then added the new "Ampersand" and "Lots of love" Die-namics. You can see how I stacked up a few layers of cardstock to make the "Ampersand" stand out!

I will miss you MFT....but I won't be far away!
Memories and Love to you all!

Summer Coloring Fun!

Sometimes it is the small details that I use for card ideas.....These accessory pieces from the new "Everyday is a Picnic" stamp set make up this fun little scene.

I airbrushed the ground (YG17) and the sky (BG15,18) with my copic markers and then stamped in the cute little scene.

Below is a close up of the picnic basket colored with E30,34,37 and R05,46 and 89.
Below is a look at the inside...stamped sentiment and ant image from "Everyday is a Picnic".
Wanna come color with me this summer? There are new classes and locations that were listed this week on the copic website. You can also find them HERE on my copic details page. I will be rolling through San Jose and San Marcos in August! Be sure to check out where all of our instructors are this summer...we may be at a place near you!

Creative Challenge Hybird Ink!

Welcome to the June MFT Creative Challenge! This month designers were challenge to get a little inky with MFT's new Hybrid inks!

I did a couple of projects to show the versatility of these inks. First up....playing with some gelato dripping.

I covered a standard piece of paper with gesso and then colored my gelatos over the top....spritzed with water and let em' drip!

Now the really cool part was adding in my stamping that I did with Hybrid ink. The lemon drop grid background and the "Cheerful Blessings" sentiment stayed nice and crisp...not mingling with the gelatos or gesso....yay!

On the left I was still playing with my gelatos and wanted to show how that black Hybird ink line would not budge over the gelatos. This is the inside of the card. The sweet sentiment is from the "Blue Skies Ahead" set stamped in Sweet Tooth pigment ink.
My FAVORITE new use for the Hybrid ink is how well it works with my Copic Markers! LOVE!

This little balloon stamped from the "Cupcake Cutie" set and then I drew in the string with my multiliner. The sky is then airbrushed.

Below is a look at the inside....the "Sun Ray" Stencil is airbrushed and then the sentiment stamped in Wild Cherry Hybrid ink! If anything would bleed, it would have been this red, but it stays nice and sharp!
Be sure to check out all the designers today playing with Hybrid inks! They are all on the MFT blog!

Thanks for the look!
