May Flowers Creative Challenge!

April showers....bring May flowers! That is the theme for this months' MFT creative challenge. I decided to play with MFT's flowers in a little non traditional way :)

First up is my salute to Ombre. I cut this large heirloom rose Die-namics from multiple pieces of crepe paper and then dipped the petals in copic reinker and let the ends of the crepe paper soak up the color. Crepe paper is also so pliable and I could curl the petals too.

I also did a little ombre treatment to the seam binding ribbon. Then I stamped sentiments from the "Birthday Sentiments" set.

Next up, I cut a bunch of flowers from fabric and did a little applique to a plain white cotton bag.

I first attached some "heat and bond" to my fabric, this makes for nice clean cuts through my die cut machine. I used the "Flower Medley" for this project.  I stamped the sentiment from "Inspired by Flowers 4" in versacraft ink.

I made a little matching card and then adhered buttons to the centers of the flowers.

Spread Your Wings Marie.....

Back from a week of the Sound of Music performances. There are a couple of photos at the bottom of this post....

Graduation is just around the corner for our oldest daughter....so I was inspired to make a GRAD card for her today.

I used some brand new releases from My Favorite Things. I started out by faux letterpressing the "Feathers and Arrows" Die-namics to a whipped cream card base.

I then cut out a separate mask using the feather for 2 purposes....

1. To use the cut out feather to trace around on my card front using a 0.3 Sepia Multiliner.

2. To use the negative portion of my cut out and lay it over the card front lining up the feathers....I then airbrushed the feather with YG25 and BG15 Copic markers. I just have to say.....I LOVE my AIRBRUSH.....I use it SO often!

I stamped the sentiment from the "Right on Target" stamp set in both kraft and berrylicious inks and then added the date with the "Bottom Line Numbers and Symbols" Die-namics in the same whipped cream paper.

Below is a look at the inside....I tried to take a large enough photo so that you could see the pretty faux letterpress indentation on the inside of the card as well.
My girl (Marie) that is graduating this year played the role of Liesl (the oldest Von Trapp child)...she is in the yellow dress above.

Below is a shot of her and Rolf (played by Mitchel Janzen)...their "16 going on 17" song was SOOOO sweet!

Release Rewind

Hope you all had a very nice Mother's Day....I sure enjoyed mine. Spent it with my family, relaxing after such a fun week (my daughter was in The Sound of Music and had 6 sold out shows last week)!

Today I have a fun little card to share that I didn't get to share during release week at MFT...I guess that is why there is a special post a week later called "Release Rewind".

This is Farmer Girl. I have stamped her on X-press it blending card with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with my Copic markers.

I even when in with my multiliner and added a few bits of cross-hatching on her overalls and some freckles to her face.

The card was quick and easy to put together with the new Blueprints 3 Die-namics and some Mint Julep patterned papers.

Below is a peek at the inside of the card....done up with some more pieces of the Blueprints 3 and a sentiment from the Farmer Girl set.

Be sure to visit the MFT blog today to see all the neat Release Rewind projects! Happy Monday:)

Copic Workshops and something TOTALLY different!

An unusual request came my way this week. My husband designs homes (like you see here) and he needed a color rendering done so that it could be presented to a city board. I haven't done anything like that but I love to try new things! So here is my COPIC colored rendering of this home. The trees are all free hand (yikes)....but I think they turned out alright. This is 8.5x11 in size.

You feel like trying something NEW?

Try our COPIC WORKSHOPS!

We have 2 coming to CANADA....the ONLY 2 offered in Canada this year!

New Product Tour!

Shopping day for MFT is finally here! After a week of showing off this months' new products the day has come :)

Tonight I am showing you "Turtle Girl". She is the newest from the Doodle Garden line.

I stamped her on X-press it blending card and then colored her with my copic markers....I then cut her out with one of the pieces from the Blueprints 3 Die-namics and airbrushed the background with R11.

I paired her up with Mint Julep patterned paper from Basic Grey and used one of the sketches for the blueprints 3 that you can find HERE.

On the inside I used the wonderful scallop border that is in the Blueprints 3 set and a sweet sentiment from Turtle Girl.

Birds of a Feather

Something fun and TOTALLY different today! MFT is delving into some brand new Mixed Media type products so I decided to give my mixed media brain a little play time today:)

I started out with a plain piece of heavy mat board....because if this turned out like I wanted it to, I intended to frame it.....and it DID!

The new stencils that MFT is releasing are WONDERFUL! I love this new "Large Chevron Stripes".  It is a large square stencil that I just did a reverse mask using a large circle to frame my little image. The birds in this image I just sketched a quick outline with a pencil and then filled it in with black paint (If I can do that...anyone can!)...I added a little bit of white paint for shiny spots.

Another stencil I used with the "Graduated Dots". I laid it over my mat board and colored in the dots with my gelatos and smoothed out the circles with my finger, then I lifted off the stencil. The other little dots you see are from the "Distressed Background Blocks" set and I applied them with paint instead of ink.
The sentiment was fun! If you look at the "Right on Target" set you can see that this sentiment appears quite differently. My plan was to just stamp it with paint.....but because alot of this image is solid my paint wanted to stick in the little creases and the words wouldn't show up properly. I started STAMPING OFF the paint on scrap paper when VOILA! In stamping it off it looked really cool! So I painted it up again and then stamped it off once before stamping it on my project.

I LOVE it when things that you don't intend to do work out for the best! I laid my "Feathers and Arrows" Die-namics over top of my sentiment and with my finger smeared a little white paint to frame my sentiment with a feather :)
